The Distance Math Program
The Distance Math Program offers college level courses via distance learning to high school students throughout Georgia. The program is offered by a partnership between the School of Math, GT Admissions, and GT Professional Education. Over 1,000 students participate in our program every year.
Course Structure
Lectures
- All lectures are pre-recorded and available to students in a learning management system.
- Students are expected to view lecture recordings each week.
Live Studios
- Some courses also offer optional live studio sessions two or three times per week.
- Live studio sessions are recorded.
Exams
- Students must take proctored exams 4 to 5 times per course on specific dates which are announced at the beginning of the semester.
- Students must take exams at their local high school so that they can be proctored.
- Make-up exams are offered for cases where there are scheduling conflicts or unexpected events.
- Homeschool students enrolled in our courses take their exams using online proctoring.
Courses Offered
The courses offered through the Distance Math Program are required for many undergraduate degree programs at Georgia Tech.
- MATH 1113 Precalculus. Offered in Fall semesters.
- Distance Math Year 1 Courses
- MATH 1554 Linear Algebra. Offered in Fall semesters. Requires completion of AP Calculus BC to apply.
- MATH 2551 Multivariable Calculus. Offered in Spring semesters for students who completed in MATH 1554 in the previous semester with a grade of D or higher and are also in the Distance Math Year 1 program.
- Distance Math Year 2 Courses
- MATH 3012 Applied Combinatorics. Offered in Fall semesters for students who have credit for MATH 1554.
- MATH 2552 Differential Equations. Offered in Spring semesters for students who have credit for MATH 1554 and who are already in the Distance Math Year 2 program.
