Graduate Admissions

Deadlines

Prospective students may apply for admission for Fall semesters. The deadline for Fall 2025 admission is December 15, 2024.  We no longer have Spring admissions.  A list of current deadlines is also maintained by Georgia Tech's Graduate Studies Office.

Applications received past the deadlines may be considered, but to receive full consideration, especially for Institute -and internal- fellowships, applications need to be submitted by the due dates.

Requirements

The basic requirements for applying to our graduate programs are as follows:

Bachelor's degree

To be eligible to apply to any of the graduate programs in the School of Mathematics a student must receive a 4 year bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized institution of higher learning before enrolling. The degree should be in mathematics or a related subject including at least a year of advanced mathematical study beyond calculus and beginning linear algebra.

GREs

For Fall 2025 applicants, the GRE tests (general and subject) are optional.  Applicants are welcome to submit GRE scores if they would like them to be considered with their application, but this is not required.

TOEFL

International students whose native language is not English must pass a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System). Recommended TOEFL scores are at least 600 (paper based) or 250 (computer based) or 96 (internet based). The internet TOEFL based score is preferred by us, and we consider all four parts of the test. Exemption: Applicants who have been enrolled as students in the US for a year or more are exempted from taking the TOEFL / IELTS exam.

Application Fee

A non-refundable application fee of $95.00 must be remitted with applications for domestic students, while a $105.00 application fee must be submitted with applications for international students.

NEW:  Eligible applicants may request an Institute-level fee waiver.  Please see this website for eligibility criteria and instructions for requesting the waiver.  If the applicant is denied an Institute-level fee waiver, the School of Math might be able to consider a fee waiver.
