Graders

Graders for courses in the School of Mathematics are generally hired on the request of the faculty for courses that do not have a recitation or studio section. Please note that we do NOT hire graders for the majority of our first- and second-year Calculus courses.

Applications for grading positions are accepted at any time of the year on a rolling basis, but hiring decisions are usually not made until the first two weeks of class in any given term. The number of available positions varies from term to term.

Students Wishing to Apply for Grading Positions

  • Most graders that we hire support 3000 level and 4000 level undergraduate level courses, and for graduate courses.
  • Please visit our undergraduate courses and our graduate courses for a list of what courses we offer and which semesters we anticipate they will be offered in.
  • Graders generally need to have completed the course they are grading for (or similar) with a grade of an A.
  • Before applying to be a grader in the School of Mathematics, please first read the grader information as it has important information that you will need to be aware of before applying.
  • After reviewing the grader information page please fill out the application form.

If you have any questions about the application process, please contact the Mathematics TA Coordinator at: ta-coordinator@math.gatech.edu.

Instructors Needing a Grader

Instructors will need to complete a grader request form each semester they would like a grader. In addition, instructors will need to complete the form even if you have already found your own grader. We do not hire graders for classes that have a teaching assistant. Grader positions are filled based on the qualifications of the applicants, so please send your request as soon as possible to ensure that a grader will be available for your course. You may not receive your grader assignment until the end of the second week of classes. Please note that in some cases, you may have to find your own grader if there are no applicants who are qualified to grade your course.
